R' Elya Lopian, ztl, used to say we start out saying Selichos with a falsehood. We say to You Hash-m, "You are rightiousness and we are shame-faced."
Berachos
R' Avigdor Miller, ZTL, said that a person should always be cognazant of the many berachos that we have in life. R' Miller stressed the idea that one should examine an apple and see how many Chasadim Hash-m does for us, just by the benefits the apple has for us.

thanks for the advice all worked out well with my parents.
tefilla
Chazal tell us we should not worry about our own needs first. If we would put the needs of the king before our own, we would surely be answered.
shul
One should not leave shul early because the Malach comes at the end of tefillah to gather tefilos in bundles and take them to Shamayim.
kavana
R' Moshe Kubriner said, "Halavai, I would know that I said 'Amen' once with the proper Kavana."
Teshuva
We learn in Talmud Yerushalmi, Berachos 1:5, that it is written, "give your heart to me my son; let your eyes watch My ways.(Mishlei, 23:26) Hash-m tells us, "if you give me your heart and eyes, I know you're Mine."

"Choose life" (deuteronomy 30:19) R' Yishmael says refers to a trade or craft.- Talmud Yerushalmi, Kiddushin 1:7
bizyonos
It is told that the Chofetz Chaim was once sitting and crying. Rav BenTzion Krimphos who was close to him came in and saw it. He was shaken by this site and asked the Chofetz Chaim for an explaination. He answered I have just finished this sefer Reishis Chuchma and there I found that a person who has Bizyonos in this world it takes away alot from his Onesh in Gehenum that he deserves. Now I sit and I'm worried and I cry to myself, why are they punishing me Min Hashamayim that I dont have Bizyonos
3 steps to refrain from sinning
Akavya ben Mehalalel said that in order for one to overpower the yetzer hara, consider the following: know where you come from, where you are going, and who you'll give a din ve cheshbon to. -Avos 3:1
One very important thing to
One very important thing to know in anger managment is to always try to delay the actual anger push it of as long as you can and sometimes the whole need will pass over
humility
We learn in Iggeres Haramban that, "On the heels of humility comes the fear of G-D.(Mishlei, 22-4) Through humility, the fear of G-D will intensify in your heart."
Rav Yosef Leib Bloch, the telshe Rav, explains that the way we can acquire such humility is if we look at what we compare ourselves to. For example, if a man who is 6'4 and he stands next to a man who is 5'8, surely the taller man will feel mightier. But if he compares his height to the sun 93,000 miles away, he will feel less than inferior.
elul
How overwhelming one might find teshuva to be. All the details, fear, regret etc, but we forget that Hash-m gave us this power to do Teshuva on ANYTHING as a gift!! Really we can be forgiven for anything and everything!
world's existance
Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser said that the world is continuing in its existance because of all the Torah learning that's going on. If the WHOLE WORLD stopped learning Torah for ONE MINUTE, in that split second the whole world would cease to exist. This is becase we are told in Bereishis that the world was created bishvil Reishis- Torah and Bnei Yisroel.
lashon Hara
One must refrain from speaking Lashon Hara, even is others will call him a fool or hate him!-Chefetz Chaim
lashon hara
The chofes Chaim said that in Devarim,"cursed is the person thayt strikes his fellow man in secret" this applies to those who say Lashon Hara behind other people's backs.
its a good thing to see that
its a good thing to see that there are peoplr involved in solving the youth at risk
chinuch habanim
How can one make children ensure their children's spiritual safety?
chinuch
concerning the article "The Importance of Torah" by Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser, I think this concept is very important and every teacher and parent should be aware that children need constant guidence and the only source should be from the Torah; especially in today's generation!
teaching Torah
We learn from the Talmud in Shabbos, where our Chazal tell us, that any Mitzva that was accepted with Simcha, we still do it with Simcha. from this we learn that the amount of enthusiasm for Torah that a child will have in life, is dependant to a large extent on the way which Torah learning was presented to him as a child.(Successful Chinuch, wagschal)
teshuva 1
In honor of Elul I am going to post one of the foundations of Teshuva from the Ohrchos Tzaddikim everyday.
Charata- One must have regret and understand what they have done. Included in this foundation is also, removing any positive "feeling" the person might have had while committing a sin.
For example, if one ate non-kosher food, they shouldn't, "say I regret eating that food, but wow it was delicious!"
ELUL
Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser's Elul book is being reprinted and available at Jewish book stores throughout the world.
tefila
Always have Emuna, even if a person asks for something a thousand times, never be discouraged. One of the earlier Bellzer Rebbe said," No answer is also an answer". When you get frustrated, it is often because of our own expectations. Dont forget that the Navi says: Hash-m enlightens us,"My thoughts are not your thoughts, and therefore, we do not even have a glimpse into the depth of judgement and Divine Providence in this world.
The great Mussar giants say the famous chazal, "whatever is done in this world by Hash-m, is done for the good."
The Avodas Panim, says that one should be in the habit of saying: "Hash-m if you want it, then I want it. However if You dont want it, I also dont want it."
We have to train ourselves to always be positive and to stregthen our Emuna and Bitachon.
humility
Sefer HaMiddos tells us: As soon as the world begin to devolope a humble trait in all its people, then we can all expect the coming of Moshiach!(Sanhedrin 98a)
Menoras HaMeor adds that the most humble men that lived, will be honored as heroes in the times of Moshiach- "When Hash-m shows favor to His nation, He will glorify the humble at the time of Salvation"- Tehilim (149:4)
open pathway
Tomer Devorah (ch.II) states that humility is the key factor in achieving/ perfecting all other middos. Meaning that when one can truely have humility a part of them, then it is as if they open a pure pathway that allows Divine "energy" to flow through. When we make humility a part of our nature, we can filter out all Gaivadik (and other) feelings and be more attuned to the needs and desires of our Creator, the Ribbono Shel Olam.
humility
We learn in Iggeres Haramban that: "Humility- This sterling quality is the finest of all admirable traits." This quote is parallel to the Rambam's: "Humility is the ladder which leads to sublime heights. Remember: There is no ornament as attractive as humility.
true happiness
There is a Rambam on Mishna Avos that says the root of the word Simcha is Macha- to erase. Inorder to be truely happy we have to forget/ "erase" our own needs and desires and place the Ratzon of Hash-m (and others) first. We can therefore achieve a level of humility if we are not so quick to be angered when offended.
self-esteem
we learn in Chovot Halevavot, that a person who distances himself from anger/resentment is led toward true humility. He then strives to reach toward Hishtachavut-equillibriam. So therefore he no longer cares if you he's praised or insulted. He self-esteem is from with in himself.
humility
We learn in Iggeres Haramban that: "once you have distant yourself from anger, the quality of humility will enter your heart."
An angry person feels inferior to everyone else around. When poeple live for and depend on the opinion of others, they don't value their own self-worth and therefore lack self-esteem. When people won't praise him, he'll feel a certain anger and hostility and cannot be humble as a result. (Alei shur, volume I p.42)

Words that are said from the
Words that are said from the heart will enter the heart of the listener
speak gently
Shlomo Hamelech said in Koheles, "D'vrei Chachamim B'nachas Nishmaim"--the word of the wise, spoken gently, are heard. A wise man is in constant control of his words and listens to people when thet speak to him. He thinks twice before he responds and chooses his words carefully.
